Tuba

Tuba

The tuba is the largest and lowest-sounding brass instrument.

There is usually only one tuba in an orchestra. It plays the bottom notes of the harmony.

Tuba players play seated, with the instrument on their laps. It’s played like other members of the brass family. The musician blows into a large mouthpiece down a long, curved metal tube. The sound comes out of a large bell at the end of the tube.

Tuba is a Latin word for ‘horn’ or ‘trumpet,’ but it’s much bigger. It weighs around 13 kilograms!
