French Horn

French Horn

The French horn is made from a long tube of brass curled into a spiral.

It has a mouthpiece at one end to blow into, and a bell at the other end where the sound comes out.

To play the French horn, a musician blows and vibrates their lips to the mouthpiece – a bit like blowing a raspberry! This vibration travels through the instrument to create sound. The first three fingers on the player’s left hand sit on top of the instrument’s valves to change the notes.

The French horn is not actually French at all. It’s German!
