The cello can produce a wide range of sounds, from deep bass lines to high melodies.
The cello is the second-largest member of the string family and is around 120cm in length. It’s played sitting down, held between the player’s knees and standing on a metal peg which rests on the floor.
Like other string instruments, the left hand presses down on the strings to alter the pitch, while the right hand moves the bow or plucks the strings.
The metal peg at the bottom of the cello helps with the sound of the cello by passing
vibrations from the instrument through the metal and into the floor.
